Le Mont St Michel

mont st Michel

Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and regarded by many as the 8th Wonder of the World, the Mont St Michel should be high on your list of places to visit! (40 minutes by road)

During the summer months it becomes very busy with tourists (It's more popular than the Eiffel Tower) however, if you time your visit for late afternoon or evening, you can miss most of the crowds. If you climb up to the Abbey at the top,do hire the audio guide (in your language) to get the most from your visit.

Rene took the photograph from across the bay at Pointe du Grouin.

The bay of the Mont St Michel has the highest tides in Europe and if you are here when the spring or autumn tides are at their peak take time out to watch the tide race in.
